Valentine’s Day arts and craft gifts

There’s nothing that preserves childhood memories of our kids the way arts and crafts do. So we are constantly doing arts and crafts. I hoard them away in a scrap book and box I have for Kaylee , and now one for Olivia.

Any time a holiday rolls around we make gifts for everyone from Kaylee! This year we did a photoshoot in the living room with terrible lighting a sheet and some roses from Trader Joe’s . They came out cute considering I did them with my iPhone, it took all over 5 minutes and (drum roll please) my mother and sister mixed up the sizes and had Kaylee in a 12 month dress and Olivia in a 2t! But hey what ever works! We got the shot! I got a picture of just Kaylee and a picture of the girls together. Olivia was not having it because all she wanted was to play with her big sister so we didn’t get one of her!

Thank you Instagram for all the editing options to make these pictures look decent!

For our project we used:

2 picture frames 4×6 that I found at home goods for $3

I printed the picture of Kaylee to be a 4×4

A low temperature glue gun

Red, pink and white acrylic paint

Paint brushes

Popsicle sticks

Markers

Foam and wood heart decorations from Michael’s (50% off right now)

Taking the stickers off the frames is a project in it’s self! Thank you home goods for not using cement to keep your multi piece stickers on to the frames!

Kaylee painted the frames and the paper that comes in the frame

We let them dry!

I had Kaylee color the popsicle sticks with a red marker while she waited.

Once they were dry I cleaned all the paint off the glass (the glass didn’t come out of the frame otherwise I would have taken all the glass out)

Kaylee had to have a talk with Olivia (don’t mind the her sniffles we all have a cold)

Next I took the picture of Kaylee and placed it face down

Followed by the paper that she painted to be a background of her picture

Next Kaylee glued on her decorative hearts

using her new low temp hot glue gun (still gets hot so if your kids are spastic don’t try it with them, use regular glue, trust me on this one!)

Glued a heart on the popsicle stick and I wrote I love you on it and glued that on too!

And you can’t forget to make a card! So we cut up one of the decorative bags I bought to put the gifts in. She had me write out the card so she could trace the letters

A gift for her Daddy and a gift for her to give to her Mommy and Sam.

It was a ton of fun! I used acrylic paint and definitely should have put more than a mat down to have her paint on 😩!
